Wild Earth

Is regal Riesling destined to take Sauvignon's crown?

Riesling is for many wine lovers the most noble white grape on earth, especially when it comes from Germany, but the ethereal, crisply aromatic Rieslings from New Zealand show the grape in an exhilarating new light.

Central Otago's cool climate mirrors that of Germany and with the multi award-winning winemaker Peter Bartle working his magic at Wild Earth, you are blessed with a Riesling of rare concentration and vibrancy.

Such is the irresistible nature of this Riesling's racy grapefruit, nectarine and floral aromas backed by lively, juicy citrus on the palate that we're convinced it will lead to the grape overtaking Sauvignon as New Zealand's favourite.

At the Wild Earth restaurant nestled in the beautiful Goldfields Mining Centre (shown left), they recommend serving this scintillating drop with a lightly smoked fish fillet on a bed of mushroom risotto with a light drizzle of truffle oil. And for those with a taste for spice, it's a wonderful match with Thai cuisine.

So give it a try before the crowd, you won't be disappointed.
