Tasting notes

Bouchard Père & Fils has built up the biggest domaine in the Côte d’Or over nearly three centuries, by acquiring various terroirs with great care and patience. Today the estate boasts 130 hectares of vines, of which 12 are classified as grand cru and 74 classified as premier cru. The estate consists of a mosaic of more than 450 different vineyards, lying roughly north to south through the Côte d’Or. Careful attention to terroir and location ensures that the majority of the vines are protected from localised weather events such as hail, storms or frost.

Expert Review

It's sometimes said that a Burgundy négociant never produces as good a Beaujolais as a négociant or grower from the region but we found this quite typical of Fleurie, with its floral Gamay aromas and juicy fresh strawberry and cherry fruit etched with suitably lively fresh acidity
