Behind the scenes

Located on the Murray River at Loxton, South Australia, the Barich family property features a beautiful organic vineyard that produces wonderful Viognier. Over the years, grapes from other vineyards in the state have joined the production, including the Bassham family’s vineyard from the 2011 vintage, and the Strachan Vineyard and Yarra Vale Vineyard from 2018’s. Meticulous effort and attention to detail in these vineyards ensures that the grapes are in perfect condition for harvest. And in line with organic winemaking techniques, the team adds indigenous yeast, then leaves the wine to ferment with little intervention. The result is a delicate, pale lemon coloured wine, with green hues and an aroma of white flowers, ginger, jasmine and apricot.

Food match

This Viognier has a creamy texture with flavours of apricot nectar and almond followed by a hint of Asian five spice on the finish. This richness makes it ideal to pair with red duck curry, pad Thai, or red lentil dhal with spinach.
