Tasting notes

Georges Duboeuf has been synonymous with Beaujolais since 1964. This wonderful Beaujolais by Georges Deboeuf is intense cherry red in colour with aromatic notes of raspberries and blackcurrant and red berry flavours. Try this smooth, medium bodied Beaujolais with roast meats or meaty fish for a delicious combination of flavours.

Gamay is frequently grown in Beaujolais and the Loire Valley, this purple-coloured grape dates back as far as the 15th century and tends to product light-bodied, fruity wines. Though it carries deeper floral notes, including lilac and violets, this vibrant variety is known for producing wines with playful raspberry and strawberry aromas.

Expert reviews

"Like all good Beaujolais and Beaujolais Village this one is made from the exquisite Gamay grape. Light, vibrant, raspberry and like all good Beaujolais, this one has got an essence of bubble gum about it, good big pink bubble gum."

Perfect food match

Baked Sea Bass with roasted cherry tomatoes with Georges Duboeuf, Beaujolais Villages

Baked Sea Bass with roasted cherry tomatoes

Over the years we have learnt to ignore the rules that, if you are eating fish then you must drink white wine. This medium bodied Beaujolais makes an excellent choice to match with any meaty fish such as Sea Bass, Halibut or Pollock. Baked with a touch of thyme and parsley to bring out the flavours of the fish, while the smooth flavours of the wine complement the robust meaty fish. Serve with new potatoes.
