Tasting notes

This popular white has the elegance of Burgundy with more fruit emphasis. New Zealand Chardonnays are really delicious and this is a benchmark for the style. Enjoy with seafood, fish, chicken and turkey.

The Chardonnay vines used by Oyster Bay are grown on dry stony old river beds in the Marlborough region. They send their roots deep to seek out moisture and nutrients and in the process they absorb tiny amounts of minerals.

Expert reviews

"This is a classic New Zealand Chardonnay. Pure fruit character balances vibrant freshness, along with a gentle, mellow texture from subtle use of oak. It's a benchmark example of the style and perfect if you like a Chardonnay that has some similarities to the Burgundian style but with more ripeness of lime and stone fruit flavours. It's ideal with quite full-flavoured, full-textured fish dishes such as salmon en croute with herbed potatoes."

Grilled tuna steaks and spicy salad

Meaty tuna steaks served medium rare with a sweet, spicy salad is a perfect partner to a spectacular New Zealand Chardonnay. The crisp, ripe fruit flavours in the wine complement the spicy sweetness of the salad.
