Tasting notes

A classic fine wine from Tuscany, made by a highly reputed producer. The Antinoris have been producing wine for 600 years and this excellent red wine, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, is evidence of their experience.

The wine is ruby red in colour with intense aromas of cherries, mint, and, particularly, chocolate. On the palate the wine is ample in body, supple and with velvety and soft tannins, long and savoury. Deliciously oaky and restrained with red-fruit flavours and silky tannins.

The design of the label has remained as it was in 1928, with only minimal adjustments, first in 1990 and then in 2001.

Expert reviews

"Just under half of this wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah which is added to traditional Sangiovese. The grapes add wonderful flavours of black fruits, chocolate and spices to the ripe cherry of the Sangiovese. Delicious with your favourite Sunday roast."

Perfect food match

Classic meatball and spaghetti with Villia Antinori

Classic meatball and spaghetti

Rich, tomato sauce is the key to this dish. While juicy, meaty meatballs bring structure and texture. A beautiful Tuscan red with supple tannins and oaky undertones goes brilliantly with this dish, complimenting the robust flavours of the meatballs, while balancing out the acidity of the tomatoes.
