This is a mature wine from Valdepenas which shows the characteristic strawberry fruit of Tempranillo and softness from extended ageing. Grapes from 30-year-old vines were treated to a slow fermentation before seven years of maturation (including two in oak).
Valdepenas DO (Denominación de Origen) is located in the south of Castila La Mancha in central Spain. Valdepenas translates as Valley of Rocks and takes it name from the ancient Spanish city in the same area. It’s no surprise therefore that it has a semi-arid climate with searing heat in summer contrasted by extremely cold winters.

Perfect food match
Simple steak supper
Sometimes it is way to easy to over complicate food and wine matching but this simple, delicious, steak is all this Spanish wine needs. Steak is a wonderful dish, it is quick and easy to cook and depending on your budget can be a mid week saver, try our frying steaks with roasted tomatoes or a weekend splurge of fillet steak with a béarnaise sauce. Either way both will be excellent with this oak matured Tempranillo. Robust enough to stand up to any cut of steak but with chewy tannins to compliment a rich sauce
