It started with buckets of grapes in the boot of a Bentley..

Established in 1970 as a small hobby winery by three friends from Sydney it was all hands on deck to get the first vintage to the winery; meaning their Bently was drafted in to help with the haul. It was worth the effort because their brand became somewhat iconic in Australian Winemaking, with their well-known mission statement 'to make great wine and have fun' inspiring many.

The white has bright lifted tropical fruit characters and a fruit laden palate that typifies this blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The red is a combination of tobacco Cabernet Sauvignon notes on the nose and palate with a Merlot richness. Both are imminently enjoyable Australian wines Iain Riggs on the Cricket Pitch range

    The Vineyard

The original land that was to become the Cricket Pitch Vineyard was first destined by the council to be just that, the community Cricket Pitch. Purchased in 1970 and planted immediately to Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Cricket Pitch range has since been a household staple for many.

    The Region

The Hunter Valley is renowned for its dry table wines of Semillon and Shiraz, however Brokenwood's production of these is further supported by grapes from 'all the right regions, for all the right reasons'. They have a passion for exploring exciting new growing regions, with a strong focus on premium quality that is second to none.
