Tasting notes

Deep red-black colour with a rich bouquet of chocolate and black forest fruits, this is a full-bodied wine with soft, velvet tannins and a long finish. While drinking beautifully now, it can be cellared with confidence for another 5-10 years. Ideal with roast lamb, smoky barbecued sirloin steak, duck or rich mushroom dishes.

One of Australia’s most respected producers, Peter Lehmann is synonymous with complex, fruit-driven wines from the Barossa Valley. From their first vintage in 1980, production has now grown to include 140 family farmers that supply fruit from all corners of the region to produce the amazing vinatges of today.

Mushroom stroganoff

Use a combination of mushrooms in this recipe to really bring out the flavours of the wine. Oyster, shiitake, portabellini and whole button mushrooms bring a meaty, earthy texture to this dish, while the creamy sauce complements the smooth tannis of the wine. For a healthier option use yogurt or half fat crème fraîche in the sauce or for a more indulgent flavour use sour cream. Serve with wild rice or poured over a jacket potato.
