Springfield Estate Special Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc

Unique style of crisp Sauvignon Blanc

This stylish wine's character sits between Loire’s cool flintiness and the tropical fruit of New Zealand. It's created from low-yielding vines giving it concentrated fruit flavours. Waitrose Cellar celebrates 20 years of Special Cuvee.

Tasting notes

This delicious Sauvignon is created from fruit grown on dryland vineyards producing very low yields and concentrated fruit flavours. It makes a zippy apéritif or an excellent partner for moules marinière or fish pie. This wine now carries a 'sustainability seal' guaranteeing that the wine in the bottle was produced in a manner that is respectful to the environment.

Robertson is an inland wine region located in the Western Cape province of South Africa. It also sits at the heart of South Africa’s famous Wine Route. Bordered by the Breede River and Langeberg Mountains, it has a hot, dry climate and contains numerous different terroirs.

Expert reviews

"South African Sauvignons can sometimes be overshadowed by those from New Zealand or Sancerre, but often these fantastic wines sit neatly between the two in terms of style, and this is a great example. With deliciously intense fruit flavours and delightful elegance, there's a grassy note on the nose that's complemented by gooseberry, lime and citrus on the palate with a bright and refreshing finish."
