How to be original
When US socialite Margaret Sames decided to combine her two favourite spirits – Cointreau and tequila – while on holiday in Acapulco in 1948, little did she know that 70 years later, bartenders, mixologists and cocktail lovers all over the world would still be following her lead.
The gorgeously sweet-sour original Margarita is made by pouring 30ml Cointreau, 50ml blanco tequila and 20ml fresh lime juice into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake it all up with style, passion and glamour until chilled, then strain into a ice-filled, salt-rimmed tumbler and garnish with a slice of lime.
