With the stunning backdrop of the snow-capped Andes,
Argentinean vineyards have an enviable location
Located to the west of Argentina next to the Andes, Mendoza is a vast region producing the lion’s share of Argentinean wine. Argentina’s signature red grape Malbec thrives here, producing rich, fruity wines.
Famatina Valley is situated in the north west of the Province of La Rioja. This vast region has more than 7,000 hectares of vineyards, producing fruity, aromatic wines such as Syrah and Torrentés.
Salta, Argentina’s northernmost wine region, is home to some of the highest vineyards in the world. The extreme temperature differences here help grapes to ripen perfectly such as Malbec and Merlot.
Well-defined seasons provide plenty of summer ripening time, while the melting winter snow delivers ample water for irrigation. Argentina's wines are particularly good value and offer a fresh and fruity style designed to be enjoyed while they're still youthful.
The Italian influence has introduced red grape varieties from Piedmont and Tuscany into Argentina, and the climate has also proved suitable for a white grape of Spanish origin - Torrontés. It’s the Malbec grape that has really made its own in Argentina, with its full-bodied black fruit flavours and peppery notes.
