Crisp, elegant, versatile and well-structured straight Sauvignon Blanc from Masson-Blondelet in the heart of the Loire's Central Vineyards. The classic match to white meats and fish dishes. Exclusive to Waitrose.

Expert Review

Although only £1 more than the Waitrose Sancerre, we were much more convinced by this delicious and delicate Pouilly Fumé for its classic light smoky aromas and the juicy texture of its succulently herbal fruit which is infused with notes of mint and nettle and finishes flinty and dry.

Light and very tasty, this dish is beautiful with the crisp Pouilly-Fumé, enhancing the green asparagus flavours in both the wine and the in the dish. The bulgur wheat brings a contrast of textures, while the chicken is succulent and moist inside, the skin is lovely and crispy on the outside. For a richer dish, poach the chicken in some cream before adding the asparagus.
