Tasting notes

This is a wonderfully complex and mouth-filling Saint-Émilion made predominantly from Merlot grapes with the addition of some Cabernet Franc. Enjoy this excellent red with meat or mature hard cheeses.

Made in partnership with arguably the best co-operative in France, Cave de Vignerons de Saint-Émilion, and blended by Hubert de Bouard, co-owner of the prestigious Grand Cru Classé estate Château Angelus.

Expert reviews

"I always love working on blends with our producers. We're lucky enough to work with a range of excellent growers through one of the best co-ops in Bordeaux, resulting in this beautifully balanced wine. There's a level of complexity, with fresh blueberry and cranberry flavours overlaid with subtle spice and smokiness that elevates it above standard claret. Delicious!"

Toad in the hole with onion gravy

This dinner time favourite can be made simply by using pork sausages or for a more richer flavour try using venison or Tolouse sausages. Either way this Waitrose Saint-Émilion is perfect to match to these robust flavours.
