Yalumba Galway Barossa Shiraz

Named after Henry Galway, former governor of South Australia

Generous and smooth, notes of fruity mulberry and mocha are lifted by elegant aromas of violet and rose – and the spice adds complexity. Enjoy with mushroom risotto.

Behind the scenes

Much like its namesake, Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Henry Lionel Galway, a former governor of South Australia, this Shiraz is open, frank and always exceeds the expectations of red wine-drinkers. The grapes are sourced from a range of terroirs in vineyards across the Barossa region of South Australia – some are grown in sandy soils, some in red-clay earth – but each one adds character to the vintage. The result is a bright ruby-coloured wine with crimson hues that smells of pepper, blackberry, chocolate mocha and vanilla, with hints of liquorice and violets. The palate is savoury, with a gentle sweetness of plums and spice that leads onto soft tannins.

Food match

Great for summer barbecues, especially homemade burgers with caramelised onions and relish, and for wintery mushroom risottos.
