Tasting notes

This is a mineral and almost creamy Chardonnay from the Loire. This wine is made in consultation with Master of Wine Angela Muir and Waitrose’s own wine buyer Maria Elener to ensure its consistently excellent quality and truly represents the terroir of the Loire vineyards its sourced from. Exclusively available at Waitrose.

Expert Review

Yet another Champteloup Loire triumph, this humble vin de pays has the sort of bright, fresh-as-a-daisy, appley fruit that will make a good summer apéritif.

Perfect food match

Luxury fish pie with

Luxury fish pie

Enliven a classic fish pie with lobster tails, sweet scallops and succulent salmon pieces as well as a a touch of smoked cod and a creamy parsley sauce. This rich dish cries out for a full-flavoured, rounded Chardonnay such as the Chanteloup to stand up to the complex and indulgent flavours of the seafood, yet the wine must be subtle enough not to overpower.
