    Louis Roederer

Louis Roederer inherited the estate in 1833. He established the wine's unique style, character, and taste.

In the mid-nineteenth century, Louis Roederer bought some of Champagne's grand cru vineyards, an approach that contrasted sharply with contemporary practices.

His heir, Louis Roederer II was equally particular and conscientious about his approach to the production of champagne, as instilled by his adoptive father.

In the 1870s, Louis Roederer began to export its wines to the USA, and even to Tsar Alexander II of Russia. In 1876, the most prestigious of all Louis Roederer's champagnes was created and named Cristal.

Over the next 135 years Louis Roederer stayed an independent family run champagne house.

Today the house is run by Jean-Claude Rouzaud the grandson of Camille Roederer.

Tasting Note Louis Roederer Cristal 2006

This famous prestige cuvée was created by Roederer in 1876 for the court of the Tsar of Russia. Still family-owned, it could be considered a grower's Champagne.

An intense and refined blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it has notes of apricot, hazelnut and fresh pastry. Luxurious and rich, it's the ultimate Champagne for celebrations.
