Tasting notes

This is a fine example of a powerful, ripe and charming Ripasso-style Valpolicella. It is produced in partnership with Fratelli Recchia, a family firm founded in 1906, which owns some of the best vineyards in Valpolicella Classico area. Often overlooked for Amorone, Ripasso offers a very drinkable, balanced alternative.

This is part of a delicious range made exclusively for Waitrose by some of the world’s best producers. Travelling far and wide, our wine buyers have sourced a selection of exceptionally good wines that truly represents their origin, be it flinty Sancerre or spicy Barossa Shiraz.

Expert reviews

"Ripasso is a wonderful style of wine of depth and character that is made using some of the dried grapes that make Amarone wines so intense and rich. This is a fine example of the style, made in partnership with Fratelli Recchia, a family firm founded in 1906. Despite the power there's also a freshness and elegance that make this supremely drinkable! "
