Tasting notes

A powerful yet elegant red, showing dark berry fruit, hints of mocha and smoky oak flavours. While approachable and ready to drink upon release, may also be cellared for five to ten years, giving a softer, more complex wine.

Canon-Fronsac lies just outside the town of Libourne on Bordeaux's famous Right Bank. With around 300 hectares of vineyards, it is one of the very smallest appellations in Bordeaux. Château du Gazin vineyard is located on a well-drained hillside with a perfect southerly exposure. Château du Gazin has been owned by the Robert family since 1933 and the vines have an average age of well over 40 years, naturally producing lower yields of concentrated fruit.

Expert reviews

"From a small producer in Bordeaux, this blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon is fruity and elegant."
