Traditionally, most red wines are a good match with red meats; for example an Argentinean Malbec and a juicy rib eye steak are a sublime combination. However, Merlot is generally a good match with roast chicken or turkey and Pinot Noir is delicious served with goat's cheese.
Red wines are classically served at room temperature, although defining what this should be can be tricky. As a guide, around 18°C is a good temperature for most reds, although lighter styles such as Beaujolais, Loire red and even young Rioja are delicious served lightly chilled.
