From Margaret River - a winemakers paradise
Established in 1967, Vasse Felix is Margaret River's founding wine estate. Pristine isolation, twin oceans and ancient soils make Margaret River a wine paradise - the ideal environment for growing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
Founder Dr Tom Cullity searched the region relentlessly for his first vineyard site, before selecting eight acres in Wilyabrup, which today remains at the heart of the Vasse Felix estate.
Now with four vineyards, each selection and expansion has been made with an unwavering commitment to Cullity's simple founding aim; "to make the best possible wine." All winemaking from vine to bottle is controlled within the estate. Fruit is harvested, fermented and matured in small, separate parcels before each barrel is graded and blended for its final wine.
Australian women winemaker of the year, Virginia Willcock, chooses a 'hands-off' approach to capture the flavours and qualities found in the vineyards themselves.
