Family spirit

Pierre Taittinger fell in love with the Champagne region while stationed at Château de la Marquetterie during the First World War. In 1931 he returned and purchased this property and the story of the Reims-based house began. Ever since then, making beautiful wine has been a family affair. Today, the founder's great-grandchildren Vitalie and Clovis (pictured, with their father, Pierre-Emmanuelle) manage the estate, which at 288 hectares is the third largest domaine in Champagne - such size and diversity of crus helps Taittinger control the quality from grape-pick to glass-pour.

Taittinger Nocturne Sec is fresh and mellow with delicate floral and ripe fruit flavours. A slightly higher sweetness dosage is added (when compared with a brut) which gives a subtle honeyed finish that softens the wine. Rounded, rich, well balanced, smooth and creamy – this is a Champagne to be enjoyed at the end of an evening (and, as its name suggests, long into the night).

And so to drink... pour a glass with rich meat pâtés (especially foie gras) and rustic bread or towards the end of the evening alongside fruit-based desserts and ice cream.
