Every spring, in anticipation of the spring frost, the Turners place large paraffin wax candles in the vineyards.
During this period the Turners move in to their converted 1960s American war truck that they park next to the vineyards so that they are close by in case of emergency (Steph is an ex-motorcycle racer and there's little he doesn't know about motors!)
The weather station in the vineyards will send an alarm to the Turners if the temperature drops too low.
When this happens, the family will be woken from sleep and hurry out to the vines to light the candles.
This raises surrounding temperatures by a degree or two. The sight of the candles among the vines is beautiful and the practice saves vines every year.
