A bubbly spirit

‘Esprit de bulles’ is the family motto of Maison Antech, founded in Limoux, France in 1860 and captures the passion, enthusiasm and experimentation of its six generations, currently under the helm of pioneering winemaker Françoise Antech. She also happens to be deliberately forgetful...

After working more than 25 harvests, Françoise felt that the 2015 vintage from her vines, spread across the appellation in the foothills of the Pyrenees, had incredible ageing potential for her sparkling wine. So, she put aside 2,000 bottles of her favourite blend in her own cellar and ‘forgot’ about them for five years (although luckily, she remembered to taste them now and again to check how they were doing!).

When Françoise felt the time and the flavours – delicate brioche, hazelnut and notes of citrus – were at their peak (or ‘apogee’), she released this very personal cuvée under the “On the QT” label. And the best way to enjoy this bright Crémant de Limoux? Françoise recommends as an apéritif or when celebrating happy times.
