Tasting notes

Made from Malbec sourced from selected parcels of fruit in various locations that are particularly renowned for this Argentinean specialty grape, bringing a complex blend of aromas and flavours. Winemaker Nicolas Catena has previously been named Decanter World Wine Awards Man of the Year for his attention to quality in the wines he creates and their firmly grounded sense of place. This is great with roast duck.

Argentina’s signature red grape Malbec thrives in Mendoza, especially in the regions of Lujan de Cuyo and the Uco Valley, where the vineyards soar between 2,800 and 5,000 feet above sea level.

To taste the wines of Catena is to enjoy wine at the cutting edge

If you want to treat yourself to Malbec at its most sensuous and complex, those in the know head to Catena winery. Now in the capable hands of 4th generation winemaker, Dr. Laura Catena, the winery came to fame under her father, Nicolás Catena. A Decanter Man of the Year, he pioneered the use of cutting-edge European winemaking methods in Argentina.

Combined with a meticulous approach in the vineyard he revolutionized Argentinian wine and has helped make Argentinian Malbec a staple of many a British wine lover's wine rack.
