WAITROSE WHITE BURGUNDY

White Burgundy is often considered the ultimate Chardonnay; widely copied around the world, but hard to beat. This soft, elegant, aromatic white is made from grapes grown around the Mâcon region of southern Burgundy, the warmest part of the area.

Thanks to a little time spent ageing in oak, it is smooth and round, with flavours of toasted hazelnut, apple and stone fruit, a hint of citrus and a lovely streak of minerality. A good partner for risottos, roast chicken or simple fish dishes.

Match with...Pot-roasted chicken with bacon & lettuce

Classic French comfort food with
a delicate, creamy sauce

Expert reviews

"I'm a huge fan of white Burgundy, but it can tend to be on the expensive side! Our Burgundy buyer, has hunted high and low to bring you this soft, elegant and aromatic example at a really keen price. It's from the Mâcon, the southerly end of the region, meaning that it exudes sunshine and smooth, ripe flavours of apple and peach, with a light lemon character on the nose, a beautiful twist of minerality and a round, satisfying texture. Definitely one to try for mid-week dinners with chicken or salmon."
