    An unconventional approach

Meet Froggy Cigala, Froggy is an old, French postman's bike, nothing unconventional about that, until you meet its owner Miko and hear his story of an unconventional find.

Miko started life in Australia, in the early years Miko would experiment with fruit and spice macerations to create liqueurs from old family recipes.

This would continue throughout university, work and travels and at the tender age of 25 this passion for exploration in flavours would explode into learning the art of distillation.

But what about the bike I hear you cry! Well, Miko knew what he wanted to do but just didn't know where to do it.

For 80 days and 80 nights Miko travelled by Froggy Cigala around France moving from distillery to distillery searching for the place to settle and learn.

Eventually he found work in a distillery in the Cognac region, and over the following years he learnt the intricacies and artistry involved in the distillation of cognac.

    Tradition combined with diversity

Wanting to take this adventure further and create spirits with a true personal signature, and combine the traditions of cognac with his passion for the diversity of flavours from spices and plants he decided to start his own distillery focusing on this element.

Taking advantage of the massive wealth of knowledge and resources in Cognac, he invested in the equipment which is best adapted to his needs.

He spent months experimenting with fruits and various spices, which finally lead to the creation of Pink Pepper Gin - where the aim was to conceive an aromatic gin that is built upon a juniper base, but with great complexity that will develop and evolve over time.

The birth of Pink Pepper Gin

Pink pepper is a spice that grows wild in Australia, its duality of sweetness and heat have always fascinated him. When he started experimenting with the spice he understood its potential in a spirit, but it was only when he assembled the liquids from this idea with that for a honey gin, that Pink Pepper Gin was truly born.

Pink Pepper Gin became the story of two spirits when Ian Spink joined the adventure. Having held several management positions, as well as co-designing and running boutique hotels between South America and Europe, Ian adopted the apt title of Director of Doing,

concentrating on the strategic and commercial development of the venture.

Pink Pepper Gin and the other creations that flow from this micro-distillery are crafted by four hands, by two people who have read and understood the rule-book, but dare to do differently.

But what happened to Froggy? Froggy is still being ridden by Miko and the team at Pink Pepper Gin and is enjoying his retirement in the comfort of Cognac.
