Family spirit
Pierre Taittinger fell in love with the Champagne region while stationed at Château de la Marquetterie during the First World War. In 1931 he returned and purchased this property and the story of the Reims-based house began. Ever since then, making beautiful wine has been a family affair. Today, the founder's great-grandchildren Vitalie and Clovis manage the estate, which at 288 hectares is the third largest domaine in Champagne - such size and diversity of crus helps Taittinger control the quality from grape-pick to glass-pour.
The Brut Réserve NV is Taittinger's signature cuvée and defines the house style. The high portion of Chardonnay is a hallmark of Taittinger and rare in a non-vintage Champagne, giving it gentle elegance and finesse. The wine's complexity and roundness comes from being bottle-aged for three years (double the length of time legally required) in the magnificent 4th-century, Unesco-protected cellars, where visitors are always welcome.
And so to drink... enjoy the light, crisp, citrus notes as an apéritif, or make a Friday fish and chip supper a little more special and share a bottle with friends.
