Brandy

This spirit gets its name from the Dutch word 'brandewijn', meaning burnt wine. And similar to wine, most brandies are made from grapes, so are historically aligned with wine regions – and explains why terms such as premier cru or grand cru are used to indicate what type of vineyard the grapes are from.
