The Rhône has some of France's oldest vineyards and is the spiritual home of many Mediterranean grape varieties.
There has never been a better time to explore the wines of the Rhône. The last three years have witnessed standout vintages. In the north of the region, Syrah and Viognier can achieve unrivalled purity, intensity and finesse, exemplified by top the very wines of Hermitage or Côte-Rôtie. There's elegant Syrah, too, from areas such as Saint-Joseph.
As you head further south, the hills disperse around Montélimar and a sea of vines appears. This is Grenache country, arguably home to some of the best-value reds in the world, full of sun-drenched spicy fruit. Gigondas is hot on the heels of Châteauneuf-du-Pape when it comes to rich fruit and spice complexity. And if you’re looking for the best of Châteauneuf itself, we have icons such as Vieux Télégraphe.
Whites from cooler regions are fresh and aromatic. The Saint-Amant comes from high in the Dentelles de Montmirail. We also have a relatively unusual white Châteauneuf-du-Pape that's well worth a try with meaty fish, such as turbot or monkfish. This wonderful region has something for every occasion and budget. We hope you enjoy exploring!
