Tasting notes

A deliciously rich, broad, tropical fruit flavoured wine made with grapes from prime low-yielding vines given long, cool fermentation with natural wild yeast and aged in 100% French oak barrels. This is one of the most expressive Argentinian wines currently available. Try with poultry in richer sauces.

The Catena family has conducted extensive research into the soils and microclimates of Mendoza's high altitude wine country in the foothills of the Andes mountains. At different altitudes, the family’s Chardonnay vineyards express a unique profile of aromas and flavours: the ripe tropical fruit flavours and rich texture of the La Pirámide vineyard (3117 ft elevation); the white stone fruit and citrus notes of the Domingo Vineyard (3675 f elevation); the lively floral notes, strong mineral character and excellent acidity of the Adrianna vineyard (4757 ft).

Expert reviews

Rich, broad and full of tropical fruit flavours, this is a bold and characterful Chardonnay. There's a depth of character and a velvety, buttery texture, with notes of sweet spice. Expressive, generous and of very good quality, this is one of the best Argentinian whites around.

Perfect food match

Creamy chicken with spinach and Dolcelatte with Catena Chardonnay

Creamy chicken with spinach and Dolcelatte

A simple one pot dish, with massive flavours of creamy Dolcelatte, balanced with fresh spinach. This dish goes well with the rich buttery texture of the Catena Chardonnay, with rounded oak notes complimenting the succulent chicken. The tropical flavours of the wine cut through the rich creamy sauce to give this dish a lighter mouthfeel. Try adding a touch of nutmeg to your finished dish to bring out the nuttiness of the wine.
