"The popular region of Rioja in the north of the country is home to, amongst others, the popular Tempranillo grape. If you like the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon and the juicy fruits of Grenache then pour yourself a glass of this robust red.
Rioja wine is all about maturation and this example, known as a Reserva, has been aged for a minimum of 3 years resulting in developing flavours of rich red fruits, spice and leather, which will dance to a flamenco beat on your palate. The finishing touch to a rib of beef."

"Being a younger wine specialist is amazing, and means I've been lucky enough to have the chance to experience and try all types of different wines, but the grape variety that really does it for me is the fantastic, delicate, Gewürztraminer
This beautiful aromatic variety reaches its finest expression in Alsace, where it displays flavours of Lychee, peach and has a unique element of sweetness about it. Perfect alongside a spicy Asian dish".

"I remember selling wines from the Padthaway region of Australia when I started working on wines in the mid nineties, so I was really excited when I saw this new Shiraz come in. It doesn't disappoint either with all the rich spicy bramble fruit flavours I recall balanced with fresh acidity and perfumed aromatic notes.
Jip Jip Rocks has great cellaring potential but is also ready to drink now. It is the perfect accompaniment to rich winter stews, pies and roast dinners."

"Barolo, the jewel in the crown of italian winemaking, is produced in Piemonte in the North West of Italy. Grown in hillside vineyards with picture perfect views of the magnificent alps, this wine certainly showcases all we love about italian wine.
Don't let the pale colour deceive you, with fantastic aromas of rose petal and tea this wine is the epitome of italian elegance in a bottle. On the palate is where the power of this wine shows, with bountiful red fruit, vanilla and tobacco flavours are combined with velvety smooth tannins and a long, savoury finish."
"Pinot Noir may be at home in Burgundy, but has gained a second residency in New Zealand. This is a very fruity, super-smooth wine with excellent length, that will match a range of savoury dishes but would be every bit as enjoyable on its own.
Fuller bodied than you might expect, it should reward you with delicious new flavours and characteristic of bottle-matured Pinot Noir, if carefully kept for a year or two. A truly splendid bottle of wine that I confidently recommend to my customers at Waitrose, Ipswich. "

"A monster of a wine! How does it pack such a punch from the cooler climate of Veneto?
Well, they pre-dry the grapes which gives the wine its wonderful power and structure. It displays warm dark fruits, ripe plum and cherry leading into complex, earthy flavours of leather, truffle and spice. On the long finish the silky tannins are complemented by a hint of violets.
This big wine would match well with a hearty, rich and flavoursome beef casserole."
