Hatozaki whiskies are produced from yeast and barley that is predominantly non-peated, then blended and distilled in copper pot stills before being matured in oak cask barrels. This results in an easy, approachable style, not challenging like other whiskies. Launched in 2018 by the Kaikyo Distillery, Hatozaki whiskies were imagined by Kimio Yonezawa, master distiller and blender, who envisioned a collection of elegant and accessible whiskies with flavours evoking the warmth of Japanese hospitality with the soft oceanic climate.
The result — a delicate and floral whisky with a richness from the 40% malt whisky used in the blend. It has a gentle sweetness complemented by a rounded mouthfeel. Enjoy it neat, on the rocks or in your favourite cocktail.
