Owned by the Bénillan family for six generations, this is a small property with a traditional approach to winemaking. The current owner, Céline Bénillan, creates this wine, which is full of soft bramble fruit character with gentle toastiness from oak ageing. Les Chartrons was built on land that belonged to a monastery (or ‘chartreux’), and was also home to 18th-century wine traders. This wine is 60% Merlot, bringing juicy blackberry flavours, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, lending structure, and the remainder Cabernet Franc. Stylish and deliciously approachable, it’s perfect with roast lamb.
