This ripe and fleshy Médoc has plenty of fruits of the forest flavours, with a delicate, perfumed aroma and a smooth-textured palate offering subtle savoury, spicy notes. A light touch of oak adds a bit of structure, but this wine is enormously juicy and approachable. It’s a stylish and elegant partner for roasts or the cheeseboard.

Owned by the Bénillan family for six generations, this is a small property with a traditional approach to winemaking. The current owner, Céline Bénillan, creates this wine, which is full of soft bramble fruit character with gentle toastiness from oak ageing. Pair with a Sunday roast, gourmet sausages or pan-fried duck breast.

An excellent-value, soft-textured claret from the Montagne Saint-Émilion region produced by the highly regarded négociant house of Dourthe. Flavours of ripe blueberry and blackberry fruit combine with savoury cedar notes in this wine, to great effect. Grilled red meats with caramelised roasted vegetables would be a fantastic match.

Ripe and elegant with structure and poise, this superb wine has good breadth of berry fruits on the nose, with lifted coffee and cedar wood notes. The palate has a firm, dark berry core with suggestions of cinnamon and black pepper bound together by fine, supple tannins.
