Loire Valley Wine
The region has three main areas: Muscadet, near the coast, is a refreshing white created from the Melon de Bourgogne grape. Inland, around Saumur, the white Chenin Blanc grape makes a variety of styles, including Vouvray and sweet wine from Côteaux du Layon. Further east are Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, two classic Sauvignon Blanc areas.
